Kate Flynn, JD
Throughout her career, Kate has worked from the core belief that a neutral professional can work informally and effectively to support people and groups to navigate their conflicts, develop their options and reach mutual understandings. She earned a J.D. from the University of California, Davis and is a member of the California State Bar. For over 20 years, Kate was a member of a San Francisco mediation firm. She has also worked as a Bay Area child and family team facilitator for mental health treatment programs, juvenile dependency and special education teams. Most recently, she served as the Juvenile Welfare Organizational Ombuds for the Santa Clara County Office of Mediation and Ombuds Services. Kate is a co-author of the Rutter Group California Practice Guide for Alternative Dispute Resolution. She has designed curriculum and trained professionals in conflict resolution including negotiation, mediation and facilitation skills. Kate completed the Foundations of Organizational Ombuds Practice training through the International Ombuds Association in 2018
