Monday - Friday; 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Main entrance is located at Walnut and California Streets. Sign in at the security desk. Take the elevators in the hallway behind the security desk to the 3rd floor. Make a right off of the elevator, walk to the end of the hallway until you come to the lobby with the double doors. Suite 309 is on your right.

Parnassus Office
505 Parnassus (Moffitt Hospital), Room M623

Enter 505 Parnassus and turn left at the guest services desk. Take elevator M to the 6th floor. Exit the elevator in the opposite direction from the stars on the floor. Turn right, then turn right again at the first hallway (with the large football artwork.) The door for M623 is underneath the sign for Adult Medical Surgery on the right hand side.

Meet the Staff

 



Maureen Brodie, MA, CO-OP
Director and Ombudsperson

Maureen received her mediation training at the University of California at Davis, serving as the UCD Senior Mediator from 1996-2010 where she provided two-party mediation and group facilitation services to faculty, staff, professional/graduate students and trainees. Additionally, Maureen has co-trained over 200 mediators -- faculty and staff at UC Davis, and employees at California state agencies through collaboration with the State Personnel Board. In May 2010, she was appointed UCSF Mediation Officer, and helped to launch the Office of the Ombuds the following year. Maureen is a Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner as designated by the International Ombudsman Association and is available to meet with individual members of the UCSF community to discuss workplace concerns.


 


Ellen Goldstein, MA, CO-OP
Ombudsperson

Ellen Goldstein has had several careers while at UCSF. Starting in 1988, Ellen’s work focused on HIV/AIDS prevention, health equity, and linking research to practice.  In these roles, she helped to bridge the gap between diverse stakeholders, facilitating collaborations and coaching for effective partnership.  Ellen trained as a UCSF Volunteer Mediator in 2007 when she was with the CTSI Community Engagement and Health Policy Program. She joined the Office of the Ombuds in 2012 and is a Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner. Her diverse group facilitation experience includes working with both small and large group processes for clinical, administrative, and research teams.  Ellen is available for individual consultation and coaching, mediation, group facilitation, and training on communication and conflict management skills.

 

Darlene Weide, MPH, MSW
Associate Ombuds

An experienced mediator, conflict coach, and group facilitator. Darlene is available to work with individuals, pairs and teams. Involved in community health programs as the Executive Director of Community Boards (SF’s public mediation and conflict resolution center) and the STOP AIDS Project, Darlene is deeply familiar with workplace and organizational challenges. She enjoys writing and teaching about conflict resolution skills. She is the author of “Conflict Resolution in the Health Care Workplace” in the textbook Foundations for Community Health Workers and developed a curriculum for educators, “Safe Schools for Everyone: Responding to Anti-LGBTQ Bias in the Classroom and on the Playground.” Darlene is a faculty member at CCSF where she teaches Conflict Resolution in the Healthcare Workplace and Women's Health. She holds a BA from Barnard College and an MSW and MPH from UC Berkeley.  

 

 



Paula Peters
Program Coordinator

Paula joined the office in 2017 as an administrative assistant. She provides program and administrative support for the department and is often the first point of contact for visitors to the office.
